Point Free Church hosted a reception in Sgoil an Rubha, the new community school in Point, on 17th May for their minister, Dr Iain D Campbell, to mark his appointment as Moderator Designate of the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland.

The first half of the evening was chaired by Reverend Andrew Coghill. Dr Campbell was presented with his moderatorial gown and hood, which was given to him by the oldest member of the congregation, Mrs Mary Macdonald, and the youngest, Miss Naomi Coghill.

Presentations were then made to Dr Campbell by Mr Norman Macdonald, Rev Calum Iain Macleod, and Mr Angus Graham, on behalf of the Point, Back and Barvas congregations respectively.

A specially carved commemorative ornament was presented to Dr Campbell by Mr Calum Mackay on behalf of Point Free Church, and his wife Anne was presented with a special keepsake box by Miss Nora Crichton.

Dr Campbell thanked everyone for coming, and all those who participated and contributed to the reception. The very pleasant and memorable evening was then concluded with the singing of Psalm 133.
