Police have issued a number of fixed penalties for traffic offences over the weekend, with offences ranging from speeding, mobile phone usage and no insurance
Two drivers were reported after Police stopped them in the Achmore area doing in excess of 60 mph in the 40mph restriction zone.

Hide AdPolice are reminding drivers to be aware of speed limits, not only on country roads but also in town, as a number of vehicles were also stopped on Matheson Road and other roads with a 30mph restriction.
Drink driving offences
An 80 year old man has been reported after he was stopped in the Shawbost area on June 16th and found to be driving over the legal alcohol limit.
A 48 year old man was stopped North of Tarbert on June 19th and reported for driving over the legal alcohol limit. He appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court on Monday, June 20th where he admitted the charge.
Road Traffic Collision
A two vehicle RTC took place at around 2.30pm on June 18th at South Beach Street, Stornoway.

Hide AdA passenger from one of the vehicles was taken to the Western Isles Hospital as a precaution, but was later released. An 18 year old female has been reported for careless driving.
Drugs Dog
On June 17th drugs dog ‘Jax’ was scanning passengers from the Ullapool to Stornoway ferry and following a positive indication by him a 55 year old man was issued a recorded police warning after being found in possession of a Class B drug.
