Police Files - fraudsters, theft and disorderly conduct

On Thursday, February 11th a theft of a wallet took place in the changing rooms at the Lewis Sport Centre. Police are reminding the public to utilise the lockers in the changing rooms to secure their valuables when taking part in activities.

Disturbance

On February 12th a 21 year old male was arrested and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a disturbance which took place at the Acres homeless facility on Sandwick Road, Stornoway.

Disorderly

A 52 year old male was arrested for disorderly conduct in the afternoon of February 16th at an Lanntair arts centre in Stornoway.

Warning

The Police are warning businesses in the area to be aware of fraudulent letters which are currently circulating. The letters appear to be issued by business associates or contractors of the recipients and are asking for a change in bank details to make payments.

Police are currently looking at how these fraudsters are able to gain information about businesses and their contacts in order to create these scam letters.
