Police Scotland Youth Volunteers scheme in Western Isles

The PSYV programme aims to strengthen the relationship with the Police and young people, breaking down barriers and promoting positive role models.

They promote a practical way for young people to understand policing by supporting the Police in their local area through volunteering.

As part of this, young people are given a chance for their voice to be heard and encouraged to promote good citizenship.

The programme is open to all young people aged between 13 – 15, which allows those people to get an insight into policing in Scotland and inspire individuals to participate positively within their communities.

PSYV have volunteered at some excellent events across Scotland, including the Commonwealth Games, T in The Park, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, local charity runs and more.

In the Western Isles, Police are looking to recruit 10 adult volunteers, who can commit to 3 hours a month to assist with the running of the programme.

In addition the Police are looking for 24 young people, between the ages of 13-15 to take part in the scheme.
