Donald Cameron backs consultation on Stornoway Harbour Master Plan
The first phase of an ambitious plan could see investment of £66 million pounds being spent on the creation of a deep water facility, creating opportunities for oil and gas exploration and the renewables industry as well as bringing cruise liners and tourists to the islands.
Donald Cameron said: “During my recent visit to Stornoway, I was delighted to have the opportunity to discuss this exciting and ambitious initiative with Alex, and to hear the views of island businesses, organisations and individuals.

“This venture will have broad-reaching social and economic consequences. Significant improvement to facilities will offer opportunities to develop industries including energy, aquaculture and fishing, which underpin the Western Isles economy.
“And development of ferry infrastructure will improve connectivity, with implications for everything from marine tourism to heath service patient transport.”
