Power cut knocks out nearly 2,000 homes

A powercut last night (Monday) affected a large area of Lewis with loss of power for over two hours.

A spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Energy said: “1756 customers were affected by a power cut at 19.37 hours on Monday 20 April - the cut was caused by previous lightning strikes which caused damage at Tong Tower.

“All customers were back on supply by 22.00 hours and we’d like to thank customers for their patience while we worked to repair this lightning damage and restore their power.”
