Major refurbishments of the Crown Hotel and Caledonian Hotel are due to take place in the New Year.

Owners Punch Taverns confirmed this week that they were committed to the future of the island hotels and were confident that ‘the Caley’ would open again in the new year.

A spokesperson said: “None of our five pubs in Stornoway are for sale as they have all been moved from our turnaround division to our core estate which we look to protect and grow. We are optimistic about the future of our pubs in Stornoway and have every confidence they can go from strength to strength.”

They added: “We are investing in our estate and are planning two major refurbishments at the Crown and the Caledonian in the New Year. The Caledonian is temporarily closed and we are looking to recruit a new licensee as soon as possible.  The Crown is currently open and trading.”
