Teachers, pupils and parents from Airidhantuim School in Lewis are inviting past and present pupils and staff to share their school memories at an informal ceilidh afternoon to be held at the school on December 8th.
The afternoon aims to get former pupils of all ages together to reminisce about their school days. The present pupils are keen to find out more about the school’s history and they hope that this informal afternoon will encourage people to come along and share their stories.
Head teacher Alice Macleod said: “This is an important and fascinating time for Airidhantuim School. I hope as many people as possible can come and share their stories on the day. A huge thank you to Hebridean Archives for their continued support.”
Members of Ness Historical Society have collected and copied many class photographs from over the years and have managed to name many past pupils.
The school are still keen to find more photographs, records and memorabilia which they hope to display in a final exhibition to be shown in the school before it closes next year. The afternoon will start at 3.15pm until 5.15pm and tea and coffee will be served.
The project is being supported by funding from Bòrd na Gàidhlig with practical assistance from the ERDF-funded Tasglann nan Eilean Siar (Hebridean Archives).
