Pupils at Daliburgh School recently celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight by attending workshops, presenting a Fairtrade Assembly and taking part in a range of activities throughout the week.
Eriskay, Balivanich, Carinish and Iochdar joined Daliburgh for the first P7 Inter-school transition sports competition with this year’s chosen sport - basketball.
Daliburgh boys and girls where both victorious winning the competition.
This event supported ‘A Day for Change’ for Uganda, and pupils donated £1 for a non uniform day.
The whole school also took part in a clean up in the Daliburgh area.
Despite the weather 10 bags of rubbish were filled, which will be collected by the Council with a reward of £100 for all the hard work.
The Fairtrade evening was also a great success. There were lots of taster stalls set up offering chocolate, wine and baking for parents.
The school Book Fair was also open in the evening which was run by the pupils themselves.
Parents and community members, including residents from Uist House, showed their support by attending the coffee morning at the end of the week.
A big thank you goes out to staff, pupils, workshop facilitators and parents for supporting the school.
