WeSTerN Isles Girl Guides and Scouts joined forces last weekend to take part in an outdoor challenge competition in the Castle Grounds.

The Guides and Scouts spent the day taking part in a wide variety of fun outdoor activities on Saturday 12th May. Each team worked together to complete six bases of the challenge, with 25 minutes to complete each one.

Activities included a water challenge, rope bridge, obstacle course, building a catapult, a game of Giant Jenga and pancake making.

The day came to a close at the prize-giving in the early evening when Scott, Stuart, Kate and Katie from Laxdale Scouts, otherwise known as the ‘Fantastic Five’ team, were crowned the winners.

Laxdale Scout Finlay Emmott said of the event: “I thought it was really good and I hope we can do it again next year and I would like to say thank you to all the leaders for all their effort in making this event wonderful for all the Scouts and Guides”.

A total of 28 Scouts and Guides participated in the Outdoor Challenge with teams from Stornoway Scouts, Stornoway Guides and Laxdale Scouts taking part.
