Shoe Box Appeal

Along with many other areas, charity groups, schools, churches and clubs will be getting ready for the annual Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal.

This year will be the 50th anniversary of Blythewood care and it will be the 31st for the shoebox appeal.

The Western Isles, have always given great support and enthusiasm for the appeal.

Last year the island sent about 1,500 boxes.

All the boxes are carefully filled with many good quality items, which are all greatly appreciated by the families and children that receive them.

Some things we see as basic, to us, are like a luxury to the people in Romania, Albania, Moldova, etc.

This year the Blytheswood Appeal are asking the local communities, schools and churches, along with individuals, to take this opportunity to help those who have little,

The drop off point is to be held at the old Co-Op building, back entrance, on Kenneth Street (opposite Masonic Hall) Stornoway.

The drop off days are Thursday, November 3rd from 3pm to 7pm and Friday from 3pm to 7pm, the last session will be on the Saturday morning from 10am to 12 midday.

Anyone who would like to help, is very welcome, at any time for as long or short a time as they can.

For further information - and leaflets are available in Blythewood shop on Kenneth Street - or from Chris Martin on 01851 708105 (day) or 01851 706143, or contact Charlie Nicolson on 01851 703325.
