The National Youth Choir of Scotland Isle of Lewis Area Choir had their summer concert on Wednesday 15th June in Stornoway Primary School.

This was a great chance to see the children singing the songs they have learned over the last term and featured a great variety of music.

However next Wednesday, 22nd June, a recruitment workshop will be held for children who wish to join the choir.

Children from this year’s primary three who are interested in singing, are invited to attend the workshop.

The workshop is half an hour of fun singing games which enable staff to tell if the child is ready to join a choir.

The weekly choir practices take the form of half an hour musicianship with games and songs, and half an hour of choir. NYCoS was formed in 1996 to provide an opportunity for young singers in Scotland to participate in choral singing at a national level. In 1998 the first Area Choirs were formed. There are currently 12 NYCoS Area choirs across Scotland.

If you would like your child to attend the workshop, please book a place as numbers are limited. You can book by calling Lorna Rudden (Area Choirs Manager) on 0141287 2831, or e mail her on Alternatively you can telephone Elizabeth Maclean ( Isle of Lewis Co-ordinator) on 07760 328394.
