Spark of hope for cheaper electricity

Electricity consumers in the Western Isles may soon be able to take advantage of a lower electricity tariff thanks to a collaboration between Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and a licensed UK Energy Supplier.

The Comhairle has facilitated the establishment of ‘Hebrides Energy’, an independent Energy Supply Company comprising representation from Hebrides Housing Partnership, Tighean Innse Gall, The Stornoway Trust, Community Energy Scotland and the Comhairle.

Initially, Hebrides Energy will partner a licensed UK Energy Supplier to launch a bespoke and competitive ‘Hebrides Energy’ electricity tariff during the second half of 2016.
