Special Council meetings

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is this week holding Special Meetings of Policy and Resources Committee and the Comhairle in relation to the implications of the Comhairle's financial settlement which was announced on 16th December.

The discussion will help to set the agenda for the public consultation meetings taking place throughout the islands over the coming weeks before recommendations then go to the February series of meetings.

This week’s Special Meetings are as follows:

Environment and Protective Services Committee - 11am Tuesday 12 January

Policy and Resources Committee - 2pm Wednesday 13 January

Comhairle - 4:30pm Wednesday 13 January

Comhairle Leader Angus Campbell said: “I would urge people to come to the consultation meetings where they can have their say on the choices that the Comhairle faces.

Councillors will be indicating this week what their preferences for budget choices are and the results of that will be available at the meetings.

“However, we are happy to discuss any areas of the Comhairle’s work in relation to budgets.

“If people cannot make the meetings they will be able to access the choices information on the Comhairle’s website and there will also be an additional opportunity with a Facebook question and answer session on Friday 22nd January.

We face difficult choices. We want our communities to be informed and involved.”
