SSE consultation on electricity cables

Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) Power Distribution are hosting a Drop-in Workshop on Submarine Electricity Cables in the Caladh Inn, Stornoway between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday, February 3rd.

Fifty-nine Scottish Islands are connected to the mainland electricity network by submarine cables.

SSE are now consulting electricity consumers in the Highlands and Islands on the most cost effective method to install these cables in order to achieve a sustainable balance of economic, safety and socioeconomic impacts.

The cost of certain methods of protection could impact on electricity bills in the Highlands and Islands so this consultation will be of interest to all electricity consumers in the region.
