Charles Macleod Ltd have been invited, by the Secretary of State for Scotland David Mundell MP, to be amongst a select few Scottish producers, to showcase the very best the country has to offer at a special ‘Taste of Scotland’ event, on St Andrews Day at the Scotland Office in London.
The event is being hosted by the UK Government Department for Scotland on Scotland’s national day, St Andrews Day, Monday 30th November.
All Parliamentarians and Diplomats in London have been invited, and it is expected around 150 will attend the ‘Taste of Scotland’ showcase event.
Charles Macleod Butchers is one of only 10 producers under the spotlight at this prestigious event.
With 2015 being the Year of Scottish Food and Drink, produce being highlighted includes key food and drink products such as black pudding and whisky, but also arts and crafts producers amongst others, giving a flavour of the very best Scotland has to offer.
Iain Macleod, Shona Macleod and Rona MacDonald, of Charles Macleod Ltd, will attend the event in London next week.
They will be on hand to give the dignitaries tasters and samples and tell some of the background and story behind the famous Stornoway Black Pudding and the island of Lewis.
Speaking ahead of the event Rona MacDonald said: “We were delighted to receive the invitation, and to be amongst such a small group of producers carefully selected to represent Scotland, is a real boost.
“Stornoway Black Pudding has always been an excellent authentic regional product of Scotland, however the PGI status has certainly helped to gain the humble black pudding more publicity and an even wider customer base.”
Shona Macleod commented: “We are busy making special samples which are bound for London this week, in preparation for this exciting event.
“We work very hard at Charles Macleod to ensure our Stornoway Black Pudding is consistently of the highest quality, so it is very rewarding to get this opportunity to showcase our products.”
