Stornoway brewery secures Aldi deal

On sale now in Aldi’s 64 Scottish stores while stocks last, the Beer Festival is expected to be worth in excess of £160,000 to the breweries involved with the retailer stocking 94,000 bottles of craft ales from 35 of Scotland’s best breweries.

Berserker Export Pale Ale (7.4% ABV, £1.99/500ml) is made using a 150 year old recipe to create an ale that is light in colour but strong in flavour.

Since the first Aldi Beer Festival took place in 2012, the Scottish breweries involved have received over £1 million from sales.

Michael Whiteford, Buying Director at Aldi in Scotland, said: “The Scottish Beer Festivals have proved hugely successful and demand for craft beer in Scotland continues to grow. It is very important to us at Aldi to give small breweries their first big break, allowing them a platform to showcase their fantastic craft beers.

“Scotland continues to produce some of the best craft beer on the market and our Beer Festival allows our customer the opportunity to try a wide array of beers that are not all readily available. We are sure this milestone Beer Festival will be a big success with a wide range of different craft beer styles to choose from.”

Looking at the list of beers on sale, there is something for everyone to enjoy ranging from dark porters to golden ales and strengths ranging from 3.4% to 8.3% ABV. I’m sure the in-store Festival will be a huge success.”
