Increased costs have meant that the price of the Stornoway Gazette is going up to £1.15 as from today.

However, as a reward to our loyal readers we are freezing subscription rates until the end of January, meaning you can still purchase a copy for as little as 84 pence.

The paper contiues to be right at the heart of the community, packed with news, features, events and also comprehensive sports coverage from your area.

It remains excellent value for money and will continue to do what it can to deliver an excellent product at a competitive price.

In this week’s Stornoway Gazette we feature a fantastic Christmas Banner design by young reader Annie Maciver who is in Primary 3 at Stornoway Primary School.

Christmas fun was also highlighted in the annual Santa Run which took place last Saturday, find out more about that event on page 32.

This week we start our Review of the Year and look back at all the news items which caught our attention during the first part of 2015, jog your memory of the year on pages 8, 9 and 10.

Younger Islanders continue to be great ambassadors for the region and this week we highlight just some of the achievements which have happened this year, findout more on pages 3 and 7.
