Stornoway RNLI lifeboat launched at 8.30pm last night, Thursday, 12th November, to the aid of a stricken prawn trawler situated seven miles east of Stornoway off Bayble Island.

The 18m fishing vessel suffered a fouled propeller and weather conditions were south east winds, force 5, and heavy rain.

On arrival, the volunteer RNLI crew secured a tow rope and the lifeboat towed the trawler to the safety of Stornoway harbour.

She was put alongside No.1 Pier at 10.40pm. The Stornoway RNLI lifeboat, the ‘Tom Sanderson’, was refueled and ready for service at 11.30pm.
