Stranded tourists rescued

A group of 12 holidaymakers had to be rescued after they were stranded at high tide on North Uist.

The group which inluded six children, found themselves trapped on the southern shore of Loch Eport as the tide came in quickly last night (Monday).

Coastguard teams from across the Uists safely led the group to safety using a guide rope over underwater stepping stones.
