Lewis Pipe Band is set to benefit from a new sponsorship deal with Lewis Wind Power, developers of the Stornoway Wind Farm.
The new sponsorship deal will help secure the financial future of the award winning pipe band, which has recently returned from the European Championships with a well-deserved trophy.
The Lewis Pipe Band have over the past two years put the Island of Lewis on the map due to their participation in a range of high profile piping competitions and have competed at the British, European and World Championships, as well as the world-famous Cowal Championships.
Commenting on the sponsorship, John Buswell, Stornoway Wind Farm Project Director, said:
“We are delighted to be helping Lewis Pipe Band with their funding. Stornoway Wind Farm has sponsored a wide variety of organisations over the past few years and we are always happy to support active community groups, like the Lewis Pipe Band, wherever we can. Lewis has a proud heritage of music and piping and we are delighted to be investing in the future of the band.”
Sandy Gomez, Chairman, Lewis Pipe Band, said:
Lewis Pipe Band continues to go from strength to strength, but this success comes at a price, with the band having to travel to the mainland for all our competitions. This welcome sponsorship from Lewis Wind Power will help us to continue to compete in national and international competitions and is particularly timely with the World Championships in Glasgow coming up in August.”
Go out and support Lewis Pipe Band tomorrow (Saturday) when they Pipe the Minch in Stornoway’s Narrows.
They will row the distance of the Minch while entertaining with pipes and drums. The event is to raise funds for the band especially their travel plans to compete at the Worlds Pipeband Championships in Glasgow next month.
