TATTOO Hebrides will be staged again in August 2014 to celebrate the next Scottish Year of Homecoming.

The Stornoway Amenity Trust are planning an event on Lews Castle Green which will include pipe bands from across Scotland and possibly from Canada. The Grade 1 Simon Fraser University Pipe Band from British Columbia have already expressed an interest in attending.

The event is due to take place on August 8 and 9 just before the World Championships in Glasgow.

Not only the Tattoo event on the Castle Green which will include local dancers and performers but there will also be a Grand Concert. A visit to Harris is also a possibility following the successful Meeting of the Bands piping event held in March this year.

Tattoo Hebrides was first held in 2009 and was a great success but organisers say they have learned lessons from staging the first Tattoo and aim to make the 2014 event even better.

The Stornoway Amenity Trust are also producing a calendar featuring Lewis, Skye and Uist Pipe Bands from the Meeting of the Bands event in March. This event also featured former World Pipe Band Champions St Laurence O’Toole.
