Loganair have apologised to passengers after a recurring technical fault meant a Stornoway bound flight had to return twice to Inverness for repairs.

The problems impacted all Stornoway and Benbecula services yesterday, Monday 13th.

A spokesman for Loganair explained: “Morning service BE6951 bound for Stornoway and carrying 11 passengers experienced a technical fault during the flight.

“The captain tried to rectify the fault but was unsuccessful and the aircraft returned to Inverness, where a new part was fitted by our engineering team.”

He continued: “The aircraft then set off for Stornoway again and the fault recurred, which meant the flight had to return to Inverness for a second time to allow the engineers to further investigate the cause.

“A spare aircraft was immediately dispatched from Aberdeen to operate the Inverness to Stornoway afternoon service and the 11 passengers from flight BE6951 were transferred to this flight.

“These technical issues impacted on all our services to Stornoway and Benbecula yesterday and we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our passengers for the inconvenience caused.”
