Touch and Go at Stornoway Airport

An Airbus A350 caused a bit of speculation over Stornoway yesterday morning as the plane looked like it was struggling to land at Stornoway airport.

But there was no accident or emergency to report, the plane which had travelled from Toulouse in France, had come to the Islands so that its crew could train on how to deal with strong cross winds.

The exercise carried out is known as a “touch-and-go”, where the plane approaches the runway looking like it’s ready to land this lifts off again, this happens several times in the training session.
