Trading Standards guidance

The advice covers much of the legislation which has an impact on craft producers, manufacturers and retailers. The guidance also contains advice on both the civil and criminal requirements of product safety legislation.

Trading Standards Officers also wish to remind charities and voluntary organisations who sell goods on a regular basis, that they also must also ensure that they are complying with product safety legislation, and that they should pay particular regard when selling second hand toys or electrical equipment.

The onus is on the trader to comply with all relevant legislation affecting the goods or services they provide.
