The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Western Isles and is set to bring delays to road, air and ferry transport.

The warning is in place between 5pm and 11pm today (Tuesday, March 9), with winds of up to 75mph expected.

The Met Office said of the warning: “Southerly gale or severe gales are expected for a few hours during Tuesday evening bringing gusts of 65 to 75 mph.

"Winds will decrease from the southwest towards late evening.”

The forecaster also adds that some bus services could be affected, with some journeys taking longer.

There could also be delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.
