Ullapool Book Festival takes place this weekend (8-10 May) with a positively stellar lineup.
As well as Scottish crime writers Louise Welsh (the festival’s honorary president) Christopher Brookmyre and Val McDermid there are authors from South Africa (Zoe Wicomb), Malaysia (Chiew-Siah Tei), Ireland (Nuala Ní Chonchúir) and Canada (Michael Crummey from Newfoundland).
Add a clutch of island writers (Duncan Gillies, Michael F Russell and Ian Stephen), some poets, non-fiction authors, more fiction writers, music and a ceilidh band and there is a recipe for an amazing weekend.
