Unemployment rises again

Over 100 more islanders claimed Job Seekers Allowance in February compared to just five months ago.

There are now 583 people (3.6 per cent of the working age population) signing on compared to 478 in October last year.

The numbers looking for work have been steadily increasing for the last six months and there were thirty more claimants in February than January.

Out of the total 583, 393 are men and 190 women.
