An ideal window of weather allowed for an atmospheric viewing of the Solar Eclipse at the Callanish Stones on Lewis this morning (Friday).
As well as the country’s media crews, a strong crowd of locals, visitors and local school children gathered to watch the rare event.
Weather conditions allowed the eclipse to be seen and an eerie darkness fell over the prehistoric site for a time.
Pupils from Stornoway Primary’s P7 class were there to see the eclipse armed with their safety glasses, the children were hugely excited to be interviewed for all the major news networks.
Those without safety glasses used their own methods to view with some using welding masks and pin hole boxes to view the phenomenon.
