Finn Macphail’s culinary skills have earned him a place in the regional heats of the first annual RIBI Young Chef Competition after cooking up a storm in the local Hebridean heat recently.
The 15-year-old from Newmarket wowed the judges in a cook off against two fellow teen competitors at Sgoil nan Loch where his two course combo of Prawn Cocktail, followed by steak and chips, was judged to be the top dish of the day.
Now Finn will get the chance to cross menu’s with the best of the region’s young cooks in the Rotary Club’s Young Chef Competition in Aberdeen next year.
He competed against Jonathan Shaw (15) and Aonghas Marshall (13) in the local heats.
The judges on the day were Mrs Ann Shaw, a retired catering tutor from Lews Castle College, and Mr ND Macleod, past President of the Stornoway Rotary Club.
