Met Office weather warning for heavy rain in the Western Isles
A yellow warning has been issued by the Met Office for heavy and persistent rain across western Scotland, including the Western Isles, from this evening (Saturday, September 12).
The warning comes into place at 6pm this evening and continues throughout all of Sunday.
A band of heavy and persistent rain is expected to arrive across western Scotland during Saturday evening, and continue through much of Sunday.
Many places will see 25-50mm of rainfall. However, some places, particularly over hills and mountains, could see peak totals of 100-130mm during this time.
As well as the rain, there will be a period of strong southwesterly winds. Although these are not expected to be overly impactful, they may make travelling conditions more challenging in places.
There is a likelihood of some localised flooding, leading to difficult driving conditions.
And there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
