Western Isles candidates on the starting block in race to Holyrood

The fight to secure the Western Isles seat in the Scottish Parliamentary Election has begun in earnest this week with the official announcement of candidates on Friday.

The five political hopefuls who will be battling it out over the issues that matter to you over the next few weeks are:

Alasdair Allan who is hoping to hold the seat for the Scottish National Party.

The Scottish Labour Party candidate is Rhoda Grant, who has worked for the region in her former role as Highlands and Islands List MSP.

The Christian Party ‘Proclaiming Christ’s Lordship’ is fielding candidate John Cormack.

The Scottish Conservative candidate is Ranald Fraser.

And the Scottish Liberal Democrats are hoping candidate Ken Macleod can win over the Islands’ electorate.

The ballot for the Scottish Parliamentary Election will take place on Thursday, May 5th.
