Stornoway was hit by one of the wettest 24 hours in March for several years yesterday (Wednesday).

Stornoway Gazette weather correspondent Eddie Graham recorded a total rainfall of 32.2mm (1.27inches).

He said maximum gusts recorded in last night’s windy weather were 61mph in Stornoway and South Uist.

There were several power cuts affecting different communities last night.

The outlook for the days ahead is much colder weather with some snow flurries.
