The Stornoway RNLI family are inviting all to come and enjoy the Lifeboat Station’s annual Open Day and 5K fundraiser.
Last year over 700 people visited the RNLI lifeboat and station, raising over £3,000 for the Stornoway station and it is hoped that many more may come and have some fun at the Open Day on HebCelt Saturday, July 18th.
Taking place at Stornoway RNLI Station, Cromwell Street, and beginning at 12noon, the Open Day offers teas, coffees and home backing as well as games and stall, live music from Rock Island Line, bouncy castle and raffle.
Stornoway RNLI will be pitting their might against the other Emergency Services in the annual Tug of War; and visitors are also invited to take a tour of the ‘Tom Sanderson’ lifeboat and station.
The Stornoway RNLI 5K, supported by Stornoway Round Table, will start at 11am on Saturday 18th from the Lifeboat Station, with registration open from 10am.
You can walk or run the 5K route, push a pram or take the dog – all are welcome to join in.
Entry to the 5K is £5 for adults, £2 for secondary pupils and £1 for primary schoolchildren – and all primary kids must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
There will be 1st Prize awarded to the work/club/organisation team to enter the most runner/walker/joggers: the Council must enter in their different sections though.
You can simply register to take part in the 5K on the day, or for more information or an entry form, please contact Steven Munro at Ionad Spors Leodhais on 01851 822785 or email email@example.com
Also to be announced at the Stornoway RNLI Open Day will be the winner of the Stornoway RNLI boat auction.
A model boat which was donated to Stornoway RNLI a number of years ago is up for auction.
The model, it is believed, was donated by a lady from Sandwick and made by a man from Tong and is estimated to be worth around £300.
Auction bids for the model can be made at the Stornoway RNLI shop on Cromwell Street, by messaging the Stornoway RNLI Facebook page (search ‘Stornoway RNLI’) or calling Ellen (702154) or Maggie (705407).
