Cheese fans can now turn their passion into a career, as a Manchester based company is on the hunt for an ‘Assistant Director of Cheese’.

The job role is aimed at a cheese fanatic who has an in-depth knowledge of both foreign and domestic cheese, with a good understanding of how to balance flavours for varying tastes and palettes.

But the catch is that you’ll also have to be a tech expert, since the job is being advertised by tech company Sorted, who design delivery technology.

A cheese lover’s dream

The role involves plenty of cheese tasting, with the successful candidate required to research dairy innovations and take note of which pairings work together to create cheesy harmony.

Beyond cheeses, attention to detail surrounding the wider board is essential.

Candidates will need to be able to make many flavour-based decisions, including:

  • Whether a biscuit, bread or melba toast is the right accompaniment for a cheese board
  • Is chutney or jelly most suitable?
  • Are grapes or tomatoes going to provide the perfect sweet cut-through?

All of this knowledge is required to help the new Director of Cheese deliver the best Cheesy Tuesday event for their fellow colleagues every month.

Perks include 40 days holiday and unlimited amounts of cheese.

How to apply

If you’re technologically minded and adore all things cheese, this could be the role for you. Apply on the company website here.
