The Autopart’s Stornoway Half Marathon, 10K and Fun Run has been hailed as a resounding success with a huge number of race entrants.
Competitors pulled on their trainers, set their playlists and took on the trails of the Lews Castle Grounds - providing the backdrop for at least part of all three races.
Everyone who finished the half marathon had their efforts marked with a goody bag which included a RareBird Harris Tweed keyring, Abainn Dhearg Whisky and Stag Bakery biscuits.
Crossing the line first in the half marathon was Portobello’s Johnny Lawson in a speedy 1:17:55. Followed by local runner Andrew Inglis of in 1:20:19. In third place was Donald MacLellan of Brighton Phoenix. For the ladies it was Laura Ross in 1:28:06; second was Ellis McKechanie in 1:30:40. First local female runner home was SRAC’s Alannah Goddard. In the 10K the top two men were were Howie Maciver and Iain Maclean with times of 37:11 and 43:04 respectively. The top two female runners in were Shona Morrison in 46:41 and Mairi Evens in 46:47. The most senior competitor in the 10K was 79 year old Angus Nicholson.
