Carloway on verge of being crowned champs for the first time

Carloway will be league champions for the first time in their 80-year history tonight IF they can beat their local rivals West Side in Barvas.

A stunning season’s work, 12 wins and just one draw from 13 league matches, has come down to a title decider at the home of their derby rivals in what promises to be a must-see encounter.

The realisation of an 80-year dream could finally come true for the ‘Way but with the West Side boasting a 100 per cent home league record there is no doubt Carloway will have to fight and scrap for anything they get in Barvas.

Carloway will be without skipper Domhnall Mackay - on honeymoon in the Big Apple - and the all-action Kevin ‘Gochan’ Macleod - suspended - but they have taken the recently departed Seumas Macleod back for the match from his new home in Glasgow.

The West Side will also not be at full-strength with a handful of regulars on foreign trips and an annual festival pilgrimage.

It’s all to play for in Barvas tonight where the unstoppable force collides with the immovable object and the Gazette will be there to bring you every kick of the action.
