Carnwath golfer Andrew sets sights on America

TEEN golf marvel Andrew Thomson has his eyes set on a lucrative scholarship in America after winning six rounds at the prestigious Scottish Boys Matchplay Championship.

One-handicap Lanark Golf Club member Andrew (17), of Murray Terrace, Carnwath, is looking to progress his career overseas after battling his way through to the semi-finals at Dunbar before finally losing 4 and 3 to Bathgate’s Ross Callan.

“It was tiring but a really good experience,” Andrew said. “I got a bronze medal for reaching the semi-finals which meant a lot.
