Stornoway Bridge Club played the SBU Autumn pairs on Tuesday and had just enough players to enable them to compete.

There are a couple of new combinations this year. Iris Stewart is partnering Ken MacDonald and Mike Norman is partnering Dave Gormley.

Anne Mackinnon and Isabel Robertson are continuing to find their rhythm.

The pressure was certainly on on Tuesday as they had to complete a set number of hands to be eligible for the competition.

They’re doing really well to keep up with the speed of play and a nagging tournament director!

The hands were almost as bad as the set hands they have in the simultaneous competitions.

They were quite difficult to bid and actually there were not that many games on offer.

In third place were Jimmy Ogilvie and Liz Carmichael – already having a better season than they did last year.

They scored 78 match points.

In second pace were Gerda Graauwmans and Jenny Morrison with 81 match points and the local heat winners were Dave Gormley and Mike Norman with 91 match points.
