Charity night at Bridge Club

What another fantastic night at the Bridge Club last Tuesday.

It was a charity night in aide of Bethesda and Hebridean Men’s Cancer Support Group.

These two charities were chosen by the holders of the Cup, Dave Gormley and Ken MacDonald.

There were 5 ½ tables, so it was a fantastic turnout and we welcomed back Mike Norman and Iris Stewart and Pat and Alice Read.

Stewart MacDonald partnered Derek MacKenzie and we played an interesting ¾ Howell movement.

We also held a raffle and together with the table money and donations we made a whopping sum of £250 which is a real credit to our small club.

Thank you to everyone for your generosity.

It was tight at the top of the leader board, our winners Derek and Stewart taking the Cup with 60%. In joint second with 57% were Ken and Dave and Gerda Graauwmans and Jenny Morrison with Rita MacDonald and Janet Smith in 4th place. Next year Stewart and Derek will get to choose the charities and perhaps provide the cakes!

This week we competed for the David Walker Trophy which has had a Graauwmans engraved on it for the past 3 years.

Sadly, this year that won’t happen. Henk wasn’t able to play and Gerda and Jenny Morrison had a pretty uncomfortable evening!

However, there were 2 pairs who had a great evening and we had joint winners with 57%.

Congratulations to Rita and Janet and Liz Carmichael and Jimmy Ogilvie. In 3rd place were Stewart and Norman MacDonald with 55%.

Our leader board for the Individual Trophy is starting to look very interesting with Stewart currently in first place, Derek in second and Rita in third.

The photos show the cheques being presented on behalf of Bethesda and the Hebridean Men’s Cancer Support Group.
