Competition experience for SRAC
It was a beautiful day and after an 8am departure from Stornoway and a minibus trip, the athletes arrived in Inverness at just after midday for a busy 4 hours of athletics action before heading back for the evening ferry.
First up were the 800m races and in the U13 girls’ race, Kirsty MacLean in her debut season ran a superb race to clock 2:47.19, and smash her PB by over 11 seconds.

U15 Daniel Stewart also ran a very good PB of 2:34.66 in the B race, and in the A race, U17 Alasdair Binns really went for it from the gun and was rewarded with a PB of over 3 seconds, as he finished second, running 2:13.68.
U15 David Morrison chased Ali home all the way, finishing in 3rd and breaking his own PB by a second and a half – his new mark of 2:16.54 seeing him ranked 45th in the country.
There was also plenty of SRAC action in the field and 2 of our U13s were very much leading the way with good performances in the Long Jump.
