Stornoway swim sensation Kara Hanlon raced her way to two national titles as she made a huge splash at a national swimming championship..
Sixteen-year-old Kara wowed at the Scottish Gas Open Swimming Championships at Tolcross setting off at a blistering race pace to register a new personal best of 1:13:46 in her 100m Breast Stroke heat which set her up for the ‘A’ final later that evening where she finished in 1:13:47. As the only ‘Junior’ (16 and under) in the Senior Final she became the Scottish Junior 100m Breast Stroke Champion.
In the 50m Breast Stroke heat Kara clocked yet another PB, qualifying for the ‘A’ final yet again with a time of 33:65. In the evening final she eclipsed this, reducing her PB to 33.14 and finishing in overall fifth place. Kara was the fastest of the two juniors to have reached the finals and earned a second Scottish title as a result - adding the Scottish Junior Title for 50M Breast Stroke.
