80 years of Lochs FC marked with magazine

Lochs FC will mark eight decades at the sharp end of island football next weekend at a special evening to mark their 80th anniverary.

A specially made commemorative magazine charting all 80-years, and the highs and lows of sporting life for the maroons, will be launched on Saturday, May 9, at the North Lochs Community Centre at the Creagan Dubh.

Starting at 5pm the evening is open to all football supporters as well as Lochs supporters and all will receive a warm welcome.

On sale on the night will be the 84-page commemorative magazine which is packed with stats, match reports, and photographs of the various Lochs stars from the Roma Cup winning side of 1937, through the golden era of the 2000’s to the most recent Co-op Cup winning side of 2014 Refreshments and a bar will be available during the event.

Lochs FC Chairman, Calum Murdo Mackenzie said: “It is with great pride that I see this magazine going to print. There are many, no longer with us, whose contribution, dedication and commitment to the club since its inception should not be forgotten.

“This magazine is a precious record of our beloved club and what has been achieved over the years by all involved in whatever capacity, whether as a player, manager, supporter or committee member.”
