Cash windfall for West Side Football and Recreation Club

Westside Football and Recreation Club is celebrating the news that it has received a £10,910.00 funding award from SUEZ Communities Trust (formerly SITA Trust) for their Ground Care Equipment project.

The project complements the various developments that have taken place at Barvas, initially comprising the development of a grass playing field, followed by the construction of changing facilities and, more latterly, a number of smaller projects such has accessibility improvements, landscaping, stock-proofing and spectator facilities.

This latest project supports and helps sustain all that has been achieved to date.

Club Chairman John N Macleod said: “We are delighted with the award and very grateful in receiving this funding.

“It will help us purchase the necessary equipment to maintain the playing field to a good standard, ultimately benefitting all who use the facility.”

Marianne Ivin of SUEZ Communities Trust added: “This is a really important project for the club, being able to maintain their grounds to a high standard will make all the difference to the users and will ensure they are able to keep things that way for a long time to come”.

SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund – an important source of funding which came into effect in April 2015.

The scheme is linked to the Scottish Landfill Tax and encourages landfill site operators to provide contributions to approved bodies, who can then pass the funds onto community and environmental projects.
