Lochs 2 West Side 3

West Side advanced to the Jock Stein Cup final last night after a hard fought 3-2 win over Lochs in Leurbost.

The hosts went into the tie without a number of regular senior players but in their absence a handful of youngsters and squad players performed impressively at Sgoil nan Loch.

Jim O’Donnell scored twice in a dominant first-half for Lochs who led 2-0 at the break.

It could have been an even greater margin for Lochs who were well on top.

After the break Martainn Shields nearly burst the net with a rising shot which arrowed into the top corner.

Then a pair of Siarach subs made the difference against the tiring Lochies.

Warren Mackay swivelled in the box to turn in for 2-2 before Luke Mackay clinched it in the very last minute with a header to send West through to the final.

West Side will meet the winner of the Point vs Carloway semi-final - scheduled for Wednesday, May 18.
