Supermarket giants battle in charity clash

Stornoway’s supermarket giants met in sporting battle for the second year in succession in their annual charity football match.

2013’s meeting proved to be a hugely one-sided affair with Tesco romping home but this time out it was a far more determined and polished Co-op side.

Ian Maciver and Jamie Fraser scored to edge Tesco 2-0 ahead at the break before the Co-op levelled with two strikes of their own.

But Tesco player manager Gordon Greenhowe scored a penalty to restore Tesco’s advantage before Fraser’s second completed the scoring at 4-2.
