THE Western Isles Island Games Association (WIIGA) is looking to recruit Team Managers for the Nat West Island Games in Bermuda 2013. These are demanding but ultimately rewarding roles for those given the task and involve a diverse range of duties, from liaising with coaches and ensuring preparation of athletes to required standards, to organising fundraising and the logistics of getting their teams to Bermuda.

The sports planned for inclusion in Bermuda are as follows: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cycling, Football (Men’s and Women’s), Golf, Gymnastics, Sailing, Sailboarding (Surfing), Shooting (Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun), Squash, Swimming, Tennis, Triathlon and Volleyball.

Interest in the Games increases each year as more people become aware of this major event, and the incentive and opportunities it brings to our sportspeople and sports clubs, helping to raise the profile of sport.

This has been aided by the BBC Alba programme Na Geamannan, which provided an insight into this year’s Games in the Isle of Wight. Team Manager information and application forms are available form the WIIGA secretary Marina Macleod on either 01851 822787 or

Alternatively forms can be collected from Marina at the Lewis Sports Centre. Closing date for applications is Thursday, December 8. The BGM of the association takes place at 7pm in the Council Chambers on Thursday, December 1, with a video link to Liniclate Education Centre.
