Island riders hot to trot following regional dressage finals

Teams and individuals had qualified for a chance to win a place at the National finals later in the year. British Dressage was represented at the competition by their Regional development officer Emma Stewart and Board Member Julie Frizzell who have followed and supported the competitions on Lewis since they started two years ago. They always comment positively on the teamwork and community in the sport here and admire the resilience of competitors turning up in all weather and giving it their all. Teams and individuals from all ages compete together performing prescribed tests that have been practiced and honed all year.

The Team Quest Open section team ‘Lochside Does Strictly’ gained first place and in the junior BYRD’s (British Young Riders Dressage) section team ‘JAAM’ were top.

Individual winners were Diane Morrison, Isla Ross and Coleen Campbell. Coleen also achieved a qualifying score to compete at the national finals at Bury Farm later this year.

The competitions are organised by Lochside Arena and follow British Dressage standards. There is support from the local sports council, local business’ and a team of hard working volunteers that make the events possible.
