Isle Dance Charity Challenge

PEOPLE of all ages are invited to come together for the Ultimate Dance Challenge to raise money for charity Save the Children.

The Ultimate Dance Challenge – a five hour dance marathon – will take place in Stornoway Primary School on Saturday, October 6th, from 11am until 4pm.

Being organised by An Lanntair arts centre, together with dance groups and schools from Lewis and Harris, it’s hoped that community groups, schools and youth clubs will also get involved.

An Lanntair Dance Development Officer Kirstie Anderson explained: “Participants can dance for as little or as long as they want – there are no rules apart from that at any one point there must be someone dancing.

“Taster sessions in different dance styles will be held throughout the day, aimed at different age groups – adults, teenagers, children, tiny tots and even babies and carers – so there’s also the chance to learn something new, everything from tap and step dancing to routines from films such as Streetdance and Flashdance.

“It is also hoped that all the participants will take part in a large Strip the Willow to finish the day,” she added.

Entry to the Ultimate Dance Challenge is £5 for adults and £2 for children with proceeds going to the Save the Children charity. There will also be home-baking and face-painting on the day.
