Lewis and Harris League title race heating up

Carloway FC could be just one week away from realising their ultimate footballing dream of winning their first EVER Lewis and Harris league title.

A shock defeat by current champs, and this season’s championship rivals, Stornoway Athletic away to Ness has pushed Carloway closer to realising their dream.

And with the Blues continuing to churn out victories in the league, where they have won 11 of their 12 matches, this looks like to will surely be the year the trophy makes it way to Cnoc a’Choilich.

But there are still plenty touch matches for Carloway to play with 2011 champions Back FC the visitors to Carloway on Monday before what promises to be a must-see battle with west coast rivals the West Side in Barvas next Friday (August 16).

Depending on Monday’s result then the match against their other main title rivals this year in Barvas could be a title decider.

See next week’s Stornoway Gazette for all the details of the up-to-the-minute goings on in the local game.
